DaVinci Resolve
Open a Resolve timeline whose cuts already match the live show.
Resolve imports both Multicam XML and EDL exports from Pixelrush. Multicam XML is the preferred path when you want one multicam clip per session. These steps were last tested with DaVinci Resolve 20.3.3 Build 10.
Import a Multicam XML
After exporting a Multicam XML from Pixelrush (see Timeline exports):
- In the Edit page, go to File → Import Timeline → Import AAF, EDL, XML…
- Select the Multicam XML (
.fcpxml) file Pixelrush exported. - Resolve opens an import options dialog. The defaults work for most Pixelrush sessions; click OK to proceed.
- If Resolve reports that clips were not found and asks whether you want to select another folder to search, click Yes. Select the folder containing your source clips, then click OK.
- A new timeline appears containing a multicam clip. Open the multicam clip to confirm each angle shows the correct camera source.
Import an EDL
After exporting an EDL from Pixelrush (see Timeline exports):
- In the Edit page, go to File → Import Timeline → Import AAF, EDL, XML…
- Select the
.edlfile Pixelrush exported. - In the import dialog, confirm the framerate shown matches your project. Change it if needed, then click OK.
- Resolve creates a new timeline with offline clips. In the Media Pool, select the offline clips (or the bin containing them), right-click, and choose Relink Selected Clips (or Relink Clips for Selected Bins). Point Resolve at the folder containing your camera media.
Troubleshooting
Resolve reports that clips were not found. Resolve may import Multicam XML with file-name-only mappings and show a message like 5 of 5 clips were not yet found. Click Yes to select another folder to search, then choose the folder containing your source clips. If you skip that prompt, relink the offline clips from the Media Pool.
For upstream issues (connection drops, timecode, synchronization, missing or duplicate cuts), see the Troubleshooting guide.
