Monitored recorders
See and control connected recorders during a live session.
Overview
While a session is recording, Pixelrush surfaces the transport state of every monitored recorder and lets you start and stop them without leaving the app. Each recorder appears as a chip in a Recorders panel, with bulk start and stop controls available across armed recorders. The panel is visible only while the session is active.
Configure monitored recorders
Connected recorders are added to the monitored recorders list automatically. To customize which recorders appear:
- Open Settings → Recorders.
- Under Monitored Recorders, check the recorders you want to appear in the Recorders panel during a live session.
Recorder states
Each recorder chip in the panel communicates state through a small dot:
- Pulsing red dot — recording.
- Solid green dot — idle (stopped, ready to start).
- Gray dot — Pixelrush has lost contact with the recorder; the last known transport state may be stale until the connection comes back.
A recorder's chip only disappears from the panel if you remove the device's connection in Pixelrush.
Start and stop a recorder
Click an idle recorder's chip to start it. Click a recording recorder's chip to stop it — Pixelrush opens a confirmation dialog before stopping a rolling recorder.
Up to two bulk controls (Start All and Stop All) appear in the top-right of the Recorders panel; each is shown independently when its action would have an effect:
- Start All — sends a record command to every armed recorder that is idle. Appears when at least one recorder shown in the panel is not recording.
- Stop All — sends a stop command to every armed recorder that is recording. Appears when at least one recorder shown in the panel is recording.
Both buttons target armed recorders (see Recorders), not all monitored recorders. Recorders that are monitored but not armed are unaffected by bulk commands.
Stop recorders when ending a session
Pixelrush handles armed recorders specially when you end a session.
When you press Stop Recording and one or more armed recorders are still rolling, Pixelrush opens a dialog before ending the session. The dialog names the still-recording recorders inline and gives you two choices:
- Stop Session — ends the Pixelrush session and leaves the recorders running.
- Stop Recorders & Session — stops all armed recorders, then ends the session.
If no armed recorders are recording when you press Stop Recording, the session ends immediately without a dialog.
